Haryana Polls: Congress announces 5 Candidates in 4th List, includes journalist from Rania
On Thursday, the Congress party released its fourth list of candidates for the Haryana assembly elections. This list includes five new candidates, bringing the total number of declared candidates to 86. Among them, the party has fielded journalist Sarva Mitra Kamboj from Rania in Sirsa district. Kamboj joined Congress recently and was introduced to the party by former chief minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda and state unit chief Udai Bhan.
The other candidates announced are Parimal Pari for Ambala Cantt, youth leader Sachin Kundu for Panipat Rural, Satbir Dublain for the Narwana (SC) seat, and Rohit Nagar for Tigaon. This announcement follows the third list, which included 40 candidates and featured Randeep Surjewala’s son, Aditya Surjewala, from Kaithal.
Election preparations and alliances
The Congress party has been busy finalizing its candidate list as the election date approaches. Ranjit Chautala, who recently left the BJP after being denied a ticket for Rania, previously represented this seat as an Independent MLA. He had left the Vidhan Sabha before joining the BJP to contest from Hisar, where he was unsuccessful.

The party is still finalizing candidates for four seats, including Uklana. There were discussions with the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) for a possible alliance, but these talks reached an impasse. The Congress has faced internal disagreements about partnering with the AAP.
The Congress had already announced 32 candidates last week, including Bhupinder Singh Hooda from Garhi Sampla-Kiloi and wrestler Vinesh Phogat from Julana. The party’s candidate lists have also included nine candidates announced on Sunday and reaffirmed nominations for 28 of its current MLAs.
The Haryana assembly elections are scheduled for October 5, with vote counting set for October 8.
